Russ Walker is an accomplished political executive with over 20 years of experience leading statewide and national campaigns and organizations. He served as a senior campaign advisor to Dr. Ben Carson’s presidential campaign and US Senator Mike Lee. Today he provides general consulting, strategic planning and campaign management to political non-profits and candidates.
He has advised some of the largest organizations on the American political right, including State Policy Network, FreedomWorks, Club for Growth, Republican Overseas andothers.
He founded and served as the Executive Director of FreedomWorks for America (FWFA), one of the nation’s largest independent superPACs. In 2012 he directed more than 23 million dollars in independent expenditures and managed more than 70 full-time staff in 12 states.
As the VP of Campaigns and Grassroots at FreedomWorks, he planned, and executed grassroots lobbying and policy campaigns in the states and in Washington DC. He played an instrumental role in the rise of the Tea Party movement and the two taxpayer marches on DC. He led state campaigns to pass pension reform, telecommunications deregulation, school choice, property rights, Internet protections, tax reform and other issues.
He oversaw the successful qualification of nine statewide ballot measures and conducted campaign expenditures in many more. He led the effort in 2003, 2004 and again in 2009 to refer legislatively passed tax increases to Oregon’s ballot.
He has been interviewed and quoted by CNN, Fox News, the Daily Show, Lehrer News Hour, Mother Jones, Politico, The Hill, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Washington Post and many others.
He is a graduate of Brigham Young University, served in the Army National Guard and currently serves on The Oregon advisory board for the US Commission on Civil Rights.
